Journals
Annals
of Biomedical Engineering
ABME is an international interdisciplinary journal published as the official
journal of the Biomedical Engineering Society
(BMES). It publishes original articles in the fields of bioengineering
and biomedical engineering as well as review articles, special communications
(e.g., methods, technical reports), rapid communications, history and
teaching articles, book reviews, and letters to the editor.
BONE
BONE is the official journal of the International
Bone and Mineral Society, which promotes the generation and dissemination
of knowledge of basic biology and clinical science of the skeleton and
mineral metabolism.
Calcified
Tissue International
The official journal of the European Calcified
Tissue Society, Calcified Tissue International began publication
in 1967 as Calcified Tissue Research and adopted its current
name with with volume 27 in 1979. CTI publishes original research, emphasizing
the structure and function of bone and other mineralized systems in living
organisms. CTI serves as a forum on exploration of the biochemical, biophysical,
molecular, and clinical aspects of the structure, function, and metabolism
of bone and other mineralized systems in living organisms.
Journal
of Biomechanical Engineering
The official publication of the American
Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Journal
of Biomechanics
The Journal of Biomechanics is affiliated with the American
Society of Biomechanics, the European
Society of Biomechanics, the International
Society of Biomechanics, the Japanese Society for Clinical Biomechanics
and Related Research, and the Australian
and New Zealand Society of Biomechanics.
Journal
of Bone and Joint Surgery
Originally Transactions of the American Orthopedic Association (1889), next American Journal of Orthopedic Surgery (1903),
and then Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery (1919, when it became additionally the official publication of the British Orthopaedic Association), the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery adopted its present name in 1922. It was adopted as the official organ of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons shortly after that group’s founding in 1933. Separate American (“A”) and British (“B”) versions have been published since 1948.
Journal
of Bone and Mineral Research
JBMR is the official publication of the American
Society for Bone and Mineral Research. In contrast to JBJS (see above),
whose audience has historically comprised orthopaedic surgeons, JBMR’s
audience was originally endocrinologists. Both journals have more general
audiences today. JBMR is the highest-ranked bone research journal, with
an impact factor of 6.329, ranking tenth among all biology and biochemistry
journals (ScienceWatch May/June 2003).
Journal
of Orthopaedic Research
JOR is the official publication of the Orthopaedic Research
Society. It provides a forum for rapid publication of manuscripts
reporting new information on basic science, bioengineering and clinical
aspects of orthopaedic research.
Medical
& Biological Engineering & Computing
The bimonthly journal of the International
Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering. It publishes technical
papers on biomechanics, biomedical engineering, clinical engineering,
computing and data processing, modeling, instrumentation, medical physics
and imaging, physiological measurement, rehabilitation engineering, and
transducers and electrodes.
